Several people have asked us to help them set up for a travelling documentary of their own. Our Time Management post should have put them off. For those who are still interested, here’s a list of what we’ve taken with us. They are of varying importance, and although it looks like a lot, all this equipment fits into 6 bags—a rucksack and a messenger bag each.
Also, it may look like we have an unnecessary amount of hard drives, batteries and so on. We don’t. First, batteries are our life force, and we’ve run out a couple of times already. When you’re travelling it’s often difficult to find time to charge them. The same is true for the SDHC cards. And as for the hard drives, we’re making two copies of everything, so that we can post every chunk of footage to two separate addresses from two different post offices. That way, if one gets lost or damaged, we still have another copy to rely on.
